Our History

Our Vision

Education is the basic right of every child. In Nepal, many children are deprived of education because of various reasons like poverty, gender discrimination and difficult terrain. My husband Naseeb, got an opportunity to study higher education in Pune India under the sponsorship of Asian Aid Australia. Following the completion of his studies, he was inspired to help other students who could not receive basic education due to financial constrain.

As the need was released among the Tibetan refugees living in a very critical condition the first education center was established. Over the years, the work expanded to include assisting children in education from all over Nepal with a back ground of coming from marginalized groups, those being involved in child labor, children living in slums, coming from remote parts of the country especially the western mountains and those with their parents in prison.
Till date more than 4000 needy children have been benefitted with this program.

Along with this while working in villages in Nepal on various health issues, I was alarmed to discover so many ladies suffered from various features of pelvic organ prolapse which were never addressed. “They say it is because of the bad deeds we did in our past life” some said while the others thought they were punished by the gods. When I realized how big the burden of the condition was in our community and the taboo attached to it and how easily such condition could be prevented and addressed to relieve the suffering ladies who cry silently, the concept of Women’s Health Project came about.

Community Service Academy Nepal (COSAN) was established in 1997, by a team of the health professionals with the vision of creating a society in which every woman is aware of reproductive health and every child obtains the right to survival, protection, development and participation.
